I believe my education, qualifications and previous work experiences have provided me with the necessary transferable skills to succeed. Class presentations and discussions helped develop my ability to speak to an audience and put forward a reasoned point of view. Seminars gave me the opportunity to debate and form clearly structured arguments and I believe that this has developed and improved my confidence as well as enhancing my critical, analytical and independent thinking skills.
As Head Boy, Class Representative and Captain I represented my school, university and team in a variety of ways which developed much of my skills base. This included making presentations, giving speeches and greeting visitors. I have a good presence which helped gain the respect of my year group and teammates. I regularly used my management skills in chairing meetings and co-ordinating events. I represented my school and university on Open Days, helped out at parent teacher interviews and met with visiting dignitaries. This has helped to enhance my communication skills as liaising with lecturers, teaching staff and parents was an important aspect of my role.
